Radio You will LOVE

See, there it is again. Love in the headline. Can't help it.

Back to topic. If you are reading this blog, I am almost sure you will LOVE this radio station, including you my dear husband. Think Delbert McClinton. KFMG 99.1 is broadcast from downtown Des Moines and streams live worldwide 24/7. It's awesome! You can access the live stream from their website: http://www.kfmg991.org/

Here's how they describe themselves: "KFMG is back as a low power community station designed to super serve the city of Des Moines. KFMGs hallmark music format is called ADULT ALTERNATIVE or PROGRESSIVE radio. You'll hear adult rock, blues, jazz, acoustic and world beat music laced liberally with the best musicians from Des Moines and Iowa. The rich heritage of progressive music that Des Moines enjoys is largely due to KFMGs influence over 3 decades."

Imagine your favorite advent hymn tune -- O Come O Come Emmanuel -- soulfully sung by Bono, backed up by the U2 band in an especially Irish sound. Mmmm. Imagine hard to find Dave Matthews. Imagine Stevie Nicks covering Dave Matthews. Imagine saying out loud, Wow, who is this artist? S/he is amazing. And then learning that it is an Iowa based musician. Imagine the cutest DJ personality ever, Heidi Baker.

My favorite program is the Beat of the World show. They say you can't get this anywhere else and I believe them. The program host has been a popular West African drumming teacher in a children's art program that I work with, but I don't want to type his official show name here lest I get googled and get in trouble.

Be careful, this radio station may cure anyone who is addicted to the news.

Enjoy!

With love, T
